Security job advert concerns

Nottinghamshire Police would like to hear from anyone who may have received correspondence from a company by the name of Cubus Security Services Ltd.

The appeal follows concerns raised by Nottingham Trent University after the company advertised a training and induction course at the university’s conference centre on 16 and 17 February 2012.

The university received a number of calls about the course and one person arrived for the course on Thursday morning, only to be told it there was no such course booked.

Police now understand that security officer positions were advertised by an organisation calling itself Cubus Security Services Ltd.

A letter sent by the company to a job applicant requests personal information and the payment of £55 for an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

Samantha Hancock, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Pre-Crime Unit said: “We are concerned about these adverts, which appear to be raising hopes of employment at a time when the number of people out of work is growing.

“The fact that cash is being demanded and possibly paid before the offer of a job is made is particularly worrying.

“We want to speak to anyone who has lost any money due to the Cubus Security Services Ltd adverts so that we can get as much detail as we can about this matter.”

Anyone who has had correspondence with Cubus Security Services Ltd. should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, ext 800 3035.
