A briefing to explain the role and responsibilities of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Nottinghamshire will be held at 11.00am on Thursday 6th September 2012 at the Nottingham Society of Artists Trust, 71, Friar Lane, Nottingham, NG1 6DH (on the left-hand side as you approach the Castle from the Old Market Square). The meeting will be in the first-floor gallery accessible only by stairs. If you wish to attend please register by simply sending an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and request for a ticket. The briefing is free but places are limited. The meeting is not restricted to Neighbourhood Watch members. The PCC will be elected in November by popular vote and will replace the Police Authority. The PCC is an innovation and likely to have a significant influence on Policing in the City and County because it is almost certain the winning candidate will be nominated by one of the major political parties..
